# Tag management

## Why this feature is needed

Tags help structure information across the platform so ideas, projects, missions, and people can be grouped, searched, and analyzed consistently. This makes it easier to identify recurring themes, track strategic topics, and connect the right people to the right innovation areas.

Without tag management, reporting becomes less reliable, topic pages become harder to maintain, and automatic recognition of related content becomes less accurate. A healthy tag structure improves discoverability, reporting quality, and platform governance.

## What this feature is

Tag management is the company-level configuration area where admins manage tags, tag variations, and topic information. Tags can be connected to ideas, projects, missions, and people.

Within [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/accept-mission/), tags are used in multiple ways. They support automatic recognition in titles and descriptions, manual classification by users and admins, topic pages, expert identification, and reporting across missions, funnels, and the Innovation Portal.

When tags are connected to people, they are presented as skills. This helps identify users with relevant expertise around a topic.

## Access level

[Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/admin/)

Admins manage tags centrally in the settings area. Normal users can add tags in supported places, and users can manage their own skills in their profile, but company-wide tag governance is handled by admins.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Settings → Data and structures → Trends & tag management

## How to use this feature

Tagging in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) has both an automatic and a manual side. The platform can recognize tags automatically based on titles, descriptions, and configured tag variations. Users and admins can also add tags manually where tagging is supported.

This means tag management is not only about creating a list of tags. It is also about maintaining variations, improving topic descriptions, monitoring tag quality, and using tags consistently across ideas, projects, missions, and people.

## What objects can be tagged?

- Ideas can be tagged by normal users in missions and by admins in funnels
- Projects can be tagged by admins in funnels
- Missions can be tagged by admins
- People can be tagged in user management by admins or in My Profile by the user

When people are tagged, these tags are presented as skills.

## How tagging works

### Automatic tagging

The platform can automatically connect tags to objects based on the words used in title and description fields. This is supported by the configured list of tags and their variations. When the system recognizes a matching term, the related tag can be linked without manual action.

### Manual tagging

Users and admins can also add tags manually. The tagging interface usually contains three main elements:

- An input field where you type the tag you want to add
- A submit action to create or confirm the tag
- A result field that shows the tags already connected to the object

If you start typing and an existing tag already matches, the system helps you select it. If the tag does not yet exist, it can be added manually.

## Managing tags in the software

Admins can manage all company tags from the central tag management area.

**Go to:** Innovation Studio → Settings → Data and structures → Trends & tag management

From here, you can:

- View all tags with metadata
- Edit the title and description of a tag
- Open the topic page connected to a tag
- Add variations of a tag

## What are variations?

A variation is another way of writing the same tag. Variations improve automatic recognition by helping the platform understand common alternatives, abbreviations, or spelling differences.

For example, the tag **Virtual Reality** can also have the variation **VR**. If a user writes VR in a title or description, the platform can still connect the correct tag.

Maintaining variations helps reduce duplicate tags and improves automatic classification quality.

## People skills

People can connect tags to their profile as skills. This helps identify expertise across the organization and makes topic pages more useful.

Skills can be managed in two places:

- **My Profile** for a user's own skills
- **Innovation Studio → Settings → User Management** for [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/admin/) management of user skills

## Topic pages

Every tag in the platform has a topic page. When a user clicks a tag, the platform opens the related topic page.

The topic page can show:

- The topic image, if configured
- The topic owner
- A description of the topic
- Connected ideas
- Connected projects
- Connected people and experts

Experts are identified based on platform activity related to tags. For example, if a user repeatedly creates, contributes to, or interacts with content connected to a certain tag, that user can become more strongly connected to the topic.

Users can also follow topic pages to receive updates when related activity changes.

## AI integration

The topic page can show an automatically generated description of a topic. This description is initially generated with AI, and admins can update it later by editing the related tag.

This helps topic pages start with useful context while still allowing admins to improve the final wording when needed.

## Reports of tags

Tag management supports reporting throughout the platform. When the tag structure is maintained well, it becomes easier to identify trends, monitor activity, and explore which topics are gaining attention over time.

### Tags on the Innovation Portal

On the Innovation Portal, trending tags are shown as topics that users can click to explore further. This helps users discover active themes and connect with related ideas, projects, and people.

### Topic page reporting

The topic page itself acts as a reporting surface by showing all content and expertise connected to the tag.

### Tag management [Trend](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/trend/) report

In the tag management area, admins can open the report view to see how tags develop over time. This includes trends in usage, connection volume, and visual reporting such as word clouds.

### Tags in innovation funnels

In funnel reporting, tags help show which topics are most common across ideas in a [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/mission/) or funnel. In the bubble view, ideas can be visualized by tag in a moving chart.

### Tags in missions

[Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/mission/) reporting can also show the most used tags in the [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/mission/), helping admins understand which themes are attracting the most attention and participation.

## Configuration and adjustments

Tag management is maintained in the settings area at company level. Changes made there affect how tags are recognized, displayed, and reused across the platform.

Admins should regularly review duplicate tags, improve descriptions, maintain variations, and merge or standardize tags where needed. This keeps reporting cleaner and supports better topic discovery over time.

Because tags influence automatic recognition, topic pages, and reporting, small changes in tag setup can have a broad impact across ideas, projects, missions, and user profiles.

## Practical example - Innovationlands

At Innovationlands, the innovation team wants to better track ideas related to guest experience technology. The team reviews tag usage in **Innovation Studio → Settings → Tag management** and sees that users are adding both **Virtual Reality** and **VR** as separate labels. To improve consistency, the [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/admin/) keeps **Virtual Reality** as the main tag and adds **VR** as a variation.

As new ideas enter the funnel, the platform can automatically connect the correct tag when users mention VR in idea titles or descriptions. This helps the Park Innovation Team group related ideas more clearly during enrichment and scoring. Later, the Strategic Domain Council can review all ideas linked to the topic, compare activity around guest-facing immersive technology, and prepare a more evidence-based [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/decision/) moment for the Group Innovation Board.

When one of the strongest ideas is approved and moved into a project, the same tag remains connected. This makes it easier for Innovationlands to report on how an emerging topic progresses from early idea intake to structured [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/ar/encyclopedia/decision/)-making and then into execution.
