# Submit and send project status updates

## Why this feature is needed

Projects often involve multiple team members who need to stay aligned on progress, changes, and next steps. Without a clear update process, important information can be missed and project teams may start working with different expectations.

Project status updates help keep communication structured inside the project. They make it easier to share progress, document changes, and notify the right people at the right moment.

## What this feature is

Project status updates in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/de/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) allow users to share progress updates from inside a project and notify the connected project team by email.

Team members who are linked to the project can receive these status updates, which helps keep everyone informed about progress, timeline changes, or other important project developments. Status updates are managed from the project view in the Innovation Studio.

This feature supports project communication and helps create a clear record of project progress over time.

## Access level

[Power User](https://www.acceptmission.com/de/encyclopedia/power-user/)

You need access to the relevant project in the Innovation Studio. Team members must be connected to the project to receive status update notifications.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Projects → Open project

## How to use this feature

Project status updates work in two parts. First, you define the team members connected to the project. Then, you use the status updates block in the project view to submit a new project status update.

Once submitted, all connected team members receive an email notification so they stay informed about the latest project changes.

### Step by step instructions

1. Open **Innovation Studio**.
2. Go to **Projects**.
3. Open the project you want to manage.
4. On the right side of the project, review the **Team** section.
5. Add or confirm the team members who should receive project status updates.
6. Find the **Status updates** block on the right side of the project page.
7. Review the latest status updates if needed.
8. Write a new project status update.
9. Click **Add status update**.
10. Confirm that the status update appears in the update history and that connected team members are notified.

## Define team members

Before sending project status updates, make sure the correct team members are linked to the project. These users will have access to the project and will receive status update notifications.

This is useful when a project includes contributors from different departments or when a stakeholder needs to stay informed throughout execution.

## Submit a project status update

Project status updates are submitted from the **Status updates** block inside the project. This is where you can review earlier updates and add a new one.

Use status updates to communicate progress, timeline changes, decisions, risks, or other relevant project information that the team should know.

## What happens after submission

Once the status update is submitted, all connected team members receive an email notification about the new update.

This helps the team stay aligned without needing to check the project manually all the time. It also creates a more transparent communication flow inside the project.

## Why project status updates matter

### Communication

Regular status updates help the project team stay informed and reduce misunderstandings.

### Transparency

Status updates create a visible record of project progress and important changes over time.

### Engagement

Keeping team members informed increases involvement and supports stronger commitment to the project.

## Configuration and adjustments

Project status updates are managed directly inside each project. The effectiveness of this feature depends on whether the right team members are connected to the project and whether status updates are shared regularly.

If some people are not receiving status updates, review the team setup in the project first. Only connected team members receive the status update notification emails.

Use project status updates consistently for important milestones and changes so the project history remains useful for the full team.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands is running a project to launch a new guest queue experience in one of its parks. The project team includes people from Guest Experience, Park Operations, and Technology.

At the start of the project, the project lead adds the relevant team members in the Team section of the project. A few weeks later, the testing timeline changes because extra validation is needed before the next stage.

The project lead opens the **Status updates** block, writes a short update explaining the timeline change, and clicks **Add status update**. All connected team members receive the update by email, so everyone is aware of the revised planning and can adjust their work accordingly.

This helps Innovationlands keep project communication clear and reduces the [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/de/encyclopedia/risk/) of teams working with outdated assumptions.
