# Edit a funnel

## Why this feature is needed

A funnel defines how ideas or projects move from submission to [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/), follow-up, and archive. If the funnel is not configured correctly, teams can lose overview, apply inconsistent evaluation steps, or miss key responsibilities and notifications.

Editing a funnel allows admins to align the workflow with the organization’s innovation process. This creates structure, supports [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/)-making, improves reporting, and helps make sure ideas are handled consistently from intake to implementation.

## What this feature is

A funnel in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) is the structured workflow used to manage ideas or projects through different stages. It provides the process logic behind review, enrichment, scoring, approval, rejection, and archive.

The funnel editor is the configuration area where admins define the funnel setup, lanes, [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/), graph settings, properties, access, notifications, and celebrations. These settings shape how the funnel behaves, who can use it, and how ideas are evaluated and reported.

Funnels can be used in different ways depending on the organization’s process, such as a stage-gate funnel, an innovation pipeline, or a more flexible workflow funnel.

## Access level

[Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/)

You need [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/) permissions or funnel owner rights to edit a funnel.

## Navigation path

## Where you can open a funnel

You can open a funnel in several ways depending on your role and where you are working:

- From **Innovation Studio** by opening **Funnels** and selecting a funnel
- From within an **idea** by clicking the linked funnel name
- By using the **search bar** to find a funnel by name

Once you are inside the funnel, users with the right permissions can enter edit mode.

## Why funnels are important

Funnels help organizations create a structured innovation process. They make the status of ideas visible, support accountability, enable evidence-based decisions, and improve reporting across departments and portfolios.

When funnels are configured well, they help teams move ideas forward more efficiently and reduce the [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/risk/) of losing valuable input during evaluation.

## Types of funnels

### Stage-gate funnel

Used for a structured [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/) process where ideas pass through clear review and approval moments.

### Innovation pipeline

Used to visualize a broader flow from intake to execution and to track volume and conversion across the lifecycle.

### Innovation workflow funnel

Used for a more flexible process where ideas can be enriched, refined, and discussed before formal selection.

## Funnel setup

The **General** tab defines the core identity and ownership of the funnel.

- **Title:** The funnel name shown in the platform
- **Owner:** The person responsible for maintaining the funnel
- **Department:** The department linked to the funnel for filtering and reporting
- **Show in dashboard:** Controls whether the funnel is included in dashboard reporting
- **Connect to project funnel:** Links the funnel to a project funnel for follow-up after approval
- **Notify idea owner on movement:** Sends updates when an idea moves between lanes

This tab is important for ownership, reporting alignment, and handover to execution.

## Lanes

The **Lanes** tab defines the stages ideas move through in the funnel. Lanes create the visual structure of the workflow and help teams understand current status and next actions.

Each [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/) can be configured through multiple [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/)-level tabs.

### General

- **Title**
- **Owner**
- **Type:** Default, [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/), or Archive
- **Color**
- **Show in graph**

### Details

- **Description**
- **Instructions for users**
- **Expected time in [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/)**

### Automation

- **Set idea owner**
- **Set deadline**
- **Set status**

### Tasks

- **Automatic tasks**
- **Task templates**

### Communication

- **Send email notification**

## [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/)

The **[Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/)** tab controls how ideas are evaluated in the funnel. Each funnel uses a published [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/) from **Settings → Data and structures → Scorecards**. The funnel determines which parent scores are active and in what order they appear.

Only parent scores can be enabled or disabled in the funnel. Child scores follow the company structure automatically. This makes scoring consistent across the platform while still allowing funnel-level selection.

Use this tab to support structured evaluation and consistent comparison between ideas.

## Graph settings

The **Graph settings** tab controls how ideas are visualized in graph and bubble chart views.

- **X-axis:** Often used for effort or investment
- **Y-axis:** Often used for value or impact
- **Bubble size:** Optional third metric

Only enabled parent scores from the [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/) can be selected here. This ensures the visual prioritization matches the actual evaluation framework.

## Properties

The **Properties** tab lets you decide which company-level properties are visible and active in the funnel. These fields capture extra information that supports filtering, sorting, and reporting.

Examples include strategic theme, business unit, expected revenue, internal reference, or launch target date.

In the funnel, you can enable or disable the relevant fields and set their display order for this specific process.

## Access

The **Access** tab controls who can access and use the funnel.

### [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/) access

- **Open:** All admins can access the funnel in the Innovation Studio
- **Private:** Only selected admins can access the funnel

### User access

- **Open:** All users can see the ideas in the Innovation Portal
- **Private:** No users can see the items unless specifically allowed

When access is private, you can grant permission through specific users, groups, or departments. This helps protect sensitive or department-specific workflows.

## Notifications

The **Notifications** tab defines which email messages are triggered when an idea enters a specific [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/). Notifications are connected to Dynamic Mail Templates and help keep idea owners, reviewers, and other stakeholders informed automatically.

Per [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/), you can choose a template and a target group so that relevant users receive the right message at the right stage.

## Celebration

The **Celebration** tab lets you activate a visual celebration when an idea enters a selected [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/). This can be used to reinforce progress and reward contributors when ideas reach an important milestone such as testing or approval.

Available effects can include confetti, stars, or fireworks depending on the [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/) configuration.

## Configuration and adjustments

Funnels are managed in **Innovation Studio → Settings → Data and structures **→** Funnel overview**. Changes made here directly affect how ideas move, how they are scored, who can access them, and how they appear in reporting.

When editing a funnel, keep the process practical and aligned with your governance model. Too few steps can reduce clarity, while too many steps can slow decisions and create unnecessary administration.

Before publishing major changes, review [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/) behavior, [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/) setup, access rules, and communication triggers together. Funnel settings work best when ownership, evaluation, and follow-up are designed as one connected process.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands uses a funnel called **New attractions funnel** to manage ideas for future park experiences. Employees submit ideas such as new rides, interactive entertainment concepts, and themed restaurants.

In the funnel setup, the innovation team assigns the funnel owner, links the process to the R&D department, enables dashboard visibility, and connects the funnel to a project execution funnel for approved ideas. This creates a clear link between idea selection and implementation.

The lanes are configured for Submitted, Under review, Selected for testing, Approved, and Archived. Each [Lane](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/lane/) has its own owner, automation rules, tasks, and notifications. Reviewers automatically receive reminders, contributors are informed when ideas move forward, and approved ideas can trigger celebratory feedback.

In the [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/), Innovationlands activates parent scores for Innovation sweet spot, Business impact, and Investment. These scores are then used in the graph settings to visualize ideas by effort and value. The team also enables properties such as target age group, theme area, and expected launch year to support deeper portfolio analysis.

By editing the funnel in this structured way, Innovationlands can compare attraction ideas consistently, keep the right teams involved, and move the strongest concepts into execution with less manual follow-up.
