# How to manage the impact graph tab in funnel management

The **Impact graph** tab in funnel management controls how the main impact graph of a funnel is visualized. It helps admins choose which scores or properties should appear on the graph axes so users can compare items in a clear and structured way.

## Why this feature is needed

Funnels often contain many ideas or projects that need to be compared from different perspectives. Looking at records one by one makes it harder to understand balance, potential, and trade-offs across the full funnel.

The **Impact graph** tab helps solve this by turning selected data fields into a visual overview. This makes it easier to compare items based on dimensions such as investment, impact, or innovation score and supports better review and prioritization.

## What this feature is

The **Impact graph** tab is part of funnel management in Application Settings. It defines how the funnel impact graph is configured by letting admins choose the **X-Axis**, **Y-Axis**, **Z-Axis**, and **Graph Type**.

Based on the interface shown, the graph can use [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/) fields or properties to represent key dimensions of an item type. The graph updates with real data, giving users a visual overview of performance, balance, and potential across all items in the funnel.

## Access level

[Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/)

Prerequisites:

- The user must have [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/) access to Application Settings.
- The funnel must already exist.
- The funnel should contain relevant [Scorecard](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/scorecard/) fields or properties that can be used in the graph.
- The user must have permission to edit funnel configuration.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Application Settings → Funnel configuration → Open funnel → Impact graph

## How to use this feature

The **Impact graph** tab is used to define how items in a funnel are plotted in the main graph view. Instead of changing the item content itself, this tab changes how the data is visualized for analysis and comparison.

Admins choose which fields or scores should appear on each axis and then select a graph type. This determines how the funnel data is presented to users reviewing the graph.

## Step by step instructions

1. Open **Application Settings**.
2. Go to **Funnel configuration**.
3. Open the funnel you want to edit.
4. Click the **Impact graph** tab.
5. Select the value for the **X-Axis**.
6. Select the value for the **Y-Axis**.
7. Select the value for the **Z-Axis** if your graph setup uses a third dimension.
8. Select the **Graph Type**.
9. Review the graph preview to check whether the setup gives a clear overview.
10. Save the funnel configuration.

## What you can configure in the impact graph tab

### X-Axis

The **X-Axis** defines the horizontal dimension of the graph. In the example shown, the X-Axis is set to **Investment**.

This can be used to show how items compare on one key dimension, such as effort, cost, or another selected metric.

### Y-Axis

The **Y-Axis** defines the vertical dimension of the graph. In the example shown, the Y-Axis is set to **Business impact**.

This helps users compare the expected value or effect of items against the dimension selected on the X-Axis.

### Z-Axis

The **Z-Axis** adds a third dimension to the graph setup. In the example shown, the Z-Axis is set to **Innovation score**.

This can be useful when the graph should include an additional score or [Property](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/property/) for richer comparison.

### Graph type

The **Graph Type** setting defines how the graph should be interpreted visually. In the example shown, the selected type appears to be a sweet spot style view.

This helps users understand which area of the graph represents the most desirable balance for the chosen dimensions.

## Rich text properties and impact graphs

Rich text properties are intended for descriptive context and are not suitable as numeric graph axes. Use number, percentage, score, or other comparable field types when configuring the X-axis, Y-axis, or Z-axis.

**Example:** Use a numeric **Expected impact** [Property](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/property/) for the X-axis and a percentage **Feasibility** [Property](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/property/) for the Y-axis. Keep a rich text **Impact rationale** [Property](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/property/) on the item so reviewers can explain the assumptions behind the values.

## How the graph helps analysis

The impact graph gives users a faster way to review many items at once. Instead of reading through records individually, they can use the graph to spot patterns, gaps, and opportunities across the funnel.

For example, a graph can help identify items with high impact but high investment, items with strong innovation potential, or items that fall outside the preferred balance for the funnel.

This makes the graph useful for portfolio discussions, evaluation rounds, and prioritization sessions.

## Guidance shown in the impact graph tab

The interface includes a description panel that explains the purpose of the tab. It states that the tab defines how the main impact graph of the funnel is visualized and that the X, Y, and Z axes can be configured to show key scores or properties that best represent the item type.

The right-side flow guidance also outlines the setup process:

1. Select graph axes.
2. Link data fields.
3. Use parent scores for high-level overviews where appropriate.
4. Choose a graph type.
5. Preview and refine the setup.

This guidance helps admins create a graph that is easier to understand and more useful for [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/)-making.

## Configuration and adjustments

The **Impact graph** tab should be configured around the most meaningful comparison dimensions in the funnel. The best setup depends on the kind of items in the funnel and the decisions users need to make.

When adjusting the graph setup, consider the following:

- Choose axes that are easy for reviewers to understand.
- Prefer high-level parent scores when a summarized overview is more useful than detailed sub-scores.
- Use graph types that match the review logic of the funnel.
- Check whether the selected fields are populated consistently across items.
- Review the setup when scorecards or funnel goals change.

Because the graph is meant to support interpretation, clarity is more important than adding too many dimensions.

## Practical example - Innovationlands

Innovationlands uses an idea funnel to evaluate new attraction concepts across its theme park organization. To support review sessions, the [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/admin/) team configures the **Impact graph** tab so the **X-Axis** shows **Investment**, the **Y-Axis** shows **Business impact**, and the **Z-Axis** shows **Innovation score**.

During innovation board preparation, this graph helps the team compare proposals visually. Ideas with strong business impact but very high investment can be discussed separately from ideas that offer a better balance between value and feasibility. The additional innovation score helps the team see which proposals are more original or strategically bold.

By reviewing the graph before [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/) moments, Innovationlands can identify which ideas are best positioned for deeper validation, board discussion, or movement toward project transition. This creates a more structured and comparable [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/es/encyclopedia/decision/) process across the funnel.
