# Project health status in Innovation Studio

## Why this feature is needed

Managing projects well requires more than tracking tasks and milestones. Teams also need a fast and consistent way to understand whether a project is healthy, at [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/), paused, or off track.

Project health status gives project leaders, innovation managers, and steering groups a simple signal they can use to assess project condition at a glance. This helps teams focus attention on the projects that need discussion or intervention.

## What this feature is

Project health status is a project-level indicator in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) that shows the current condition of a project using a clear, color-based status. It helps summarize whether a project is progressing as expected or whether it needs attention.

The status is visible in the project detail view and across project overviews such as Kanban, list view, and exports. [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) also provides a configurable set of default health statuses, including values such as Not started, On track, On hold, At [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/), Off track, and Completed.

Each health status can include a title, description, color, icon, default setting, and severity score. This makes the feature useful not only for daily project follow-up, but also for reporting and integrations.

## Access level

[Power User](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/power-user/)

You need access to the relevant project in the Innovation Studio to view and update project health status. [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/admin/) permissions are required to configure the available health statuses for your organization.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Projects → Open project

## How to use this feature

Project health status is used to communicate the current condition of a project in a structured and visible way. Project leaders can update the status when the project changes, for example when it moves from On track to At [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/) because of a delay or dependency issue.

Because the same status framework is used across projects, steering groups and leadership can compare projects more consistently and identify where attention is required.

### Step by step instructions

1. Open **Innovation Studio**.
2. Go to **Projects**.
3. Open the project you want to review.
4. Look at the project toolbar just below the project image.
5. Find the **Project health status** selector on the right side of the toolbar.
6. Open the selector and choose the status that best reflects the current condition of the project.
7. Save the project if needed.
8. Review the updated status in the project view, Kanban view, list view, or exports.

## Where to find project health status

When you open a project in Innovation Studio, you see the project detail page. Just below the project image is the project toolbar. On the right side of this toolbar, you find the **Project health status** selector.

By default, every new project is set to **On track**. Users with the right permissions can change this to reflect the actual state of the project.

## Visibility across the platform

### Kanban view

In the Projects overview, each project card displays its health status. This allows managers and steering groups to scan the portfolio quickly and identify projects that need attention.

### List view

The same information is visible as a column in the list of projects, which makes it easier to compare and sort projects by health condition.

### Exports

Project health status is included in exports, which means it can also be used in external reporting and analysis.

## Default health statuses

[Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) includes a default set of project health statuses that can be used as a starting point.

- **Not started** - Work not begun and no major [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/) is affecting the baseline.
- **On track** - The project is progressing according to plan for scope, schedule, and budget.
- **On hold** - The project is paused by [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/decision/) and no work is expected until a later moment.
- **At [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/)** - A material [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/) exists and mitigation is in progress.
- **Off track** - The plan is no longer credible and the project needs escalation or intervention.
- **Completed** - The outcomes have been delivered and accepted.

Each status can also have a severity value from 0 to 100, which supports dashboards, reporting, and integrations.

## Why project health status matters

### Clarity at a glance

Instead of reading detailed updates first, users can immediately see whether a project is progressing well or needs attention.

### Consistency

When all project leaders use the same status framework, results become easier to compare across teams and portfolios.

### [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/decision/) focus

Steering groups can quickly identify which projects should be discussed and where intervention may be needed.

### Transparency

Teams, departments, and leadership all work with the same language for project condition.

## Best practices

- Update the health status regularly as part of the project reporting cycle.
- Keep the status set simple so project leaders can choose clearly and consistently.
- Define clear rules for when a project should move from one status to another.
- Use project status updates and other project reporting tools alongside health status so the reasoning behind the color is documented.

## Reporting and integrations

Project health status is not only visible inside the project views. It can also be used in reporting and external tools.

Health status values and severity scores can be included in Power BI dashboards, retrieved through the API, and used in automated workflows. For example, a workflow could notify a steering group automatically when a project moves to Off track.

This makes project health status useful both for operational project follow-up and for portfolio-level reporting.

## Configuration and adjustments

Admins can configure the available project health statuses to match the needs of the organization.

You can manage them here:

**Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Settings → Data and structures **→**** **Health status**

From this settings page, admins can reorder statuses, define the default status for new projects, edit titles and descriptions, change colors and icons, adjust severity values, and add new statuses if needed.

Keep the status framework clear and practical. Too many status options reduce clarity and make reporting less useful.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands runs several innovation projects at the same time, including new attraction concepts, guest experience pilots, and digital service improvements. The innovation manager wants leadership to quickly understand which projects are healthy and which ones need discussion.

The company uses a simple health status structure with green for **On track**, orange for **At [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/risk/)**, and red for **Off track**. Project leaders are asked to update the health status every two weeks as part of their reporting cycle.

In one review cycle, a new attraction prototype remains green because it is progressing as planned. A guest app improvement moves to orange because of supplier delays. Another project moves to red after a major budget issue. In the next steering group meeting, the team quickly focuses on the orange and red projects because the health status overview already shows where attention is needed.

This helps Innovationlands use project health status as a simple but consistent signal for portfolio oversight and [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/fr/encyclopedia/decision/)-making.
