# Connected project funnel

## Why this feature is needed

When an approved idea is turned into a project, it should move into the right execution workflow without extra manual setup. If the destination project funnel is not clear, projects may end up in the wrong place or depend on the last funnel a user opened.

The connected project funnel setting creates a more reliable handover from idea management to project execution. This helps teams keep the process structured and reduces the [Risk](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/risk/) of mistakes during project creation.

## What this feature is

The connected project funnel is a setting in an idea funnel that defines which project funnel should be used when an idea is converted into a project.

When this setting is configured, any idea that is started as a project from that idea funnel will automatically be placed in the selected project funnel. If no connected project funnel is set, the new project is created in the last project funnel the user accessed.

This setting helps connect idea evaluation with project execution in a more controlled way.

## Access level

You need permission to edit funnel settings before you can configure a connected project funnel.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Settings → Funnel configuration → Open idea funnel → Funnel settings

## How to use this feature

Use the connected project funnel setting when ideas from a specific idea funnel should always move into one defined project funnel after approval. This is especially useful when departments or business units manage separate project workflows.

Once configured, users do not need to choose the destination project funnel manually when they start a project from an idea in that funnel.

### Step by step instructions

1. Open **Innovation Studio**.
2. Go to **Settings**.
3. Select **Funnel configuration**.
4. Open the idea funnel you want to update.
5. Click **Funnel settings**.
6. Find the **Connected project funnel** setting.
7. Select the project funnel that should receive projects created from this idea funnel.
8. Open an idea in that funnel and use **Start project** when the idea is ready to move into execution.

## What happens if no project funnel is connected

If no connected project funnel is configured, the new project will be created in the last project funnel the user accessed. This can be practical in some cases, but it can also create inconsistency if users work across multiple project funnels.

To keep project routing predictable, it is best to configure the connected project funnel when a clear destination funnel exists.

## Configuration and adjustments

This setting is managed in the idea funnel configuration. It should be reviewed whenever the organization changes its project structure or when new department-specific project funnels are introduced.

Use a connected project funnel when one idea funnel should always hand over to one execution process. This is especially useful when different departments, themes, or business units manage their own project funnels.

If your process is more flexible and ideas may need to move into different project funnels depending on the case, review carefully whether a fixed connection is the right setup.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands uses a dedicated idea funnel called **Guest experience ideas** to collect and evaluate improvements for park visits. Once ideas are approved, they should move into a project workflow managed by the guest experience delivery team.

The [Admin](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/admin/) opens the idea funnel settings and sets the **Connected project funnel** to **Guest experience projects**. After that, when a team member opens an approved idea and clicks **Start project**, the new project is automatically created in the correct project funnel.

This helps Innovationlands move selected ideas into execution without confusion and keeps the handover from idea review to project follow-up consistent across the team.
