# Idea Router

## Why this feature is needed

When many ideas enter the platform through different channels, manual sorting can slow down review and create inconsistency. The Idea Router helps keep idea intake structured by automatically placing new ideas in the most relevant idea funnel.

This is useful when your organization receives ideas through the [Company IdeaBox](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/company-ideabox/), campaigns, or internal transfers between funnels and wants the right Power Users to review them without manual triage.

## What this feature is

The Idea Router is an AI powered routing feature for idea funnels in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/). It analyzes the content of a new idea, compares that idea with the setup of eligible funnels, and decides which funnel is the best fit.

The router uses information such as funnel title, description, department, category, tags, topics, and optional context fields. It assigns a confidence score to each eligible funnel and can automatically move the idea when the confidence is high enough.

The feature is part of idea funnel management in the Innovation Studio and works within the normal funnel workflow. When an idea is routed, the receiving funnel continues with its regular notifications and follow-up automation.

## Access level

[Power User](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/power-user/)

Prerequisite: You need access to the relevant idea funnel and permission to manage funnel settings.

## Navigation path

Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Idea Management → Idea funnels → Open a funnel → Idea Router

## How to use this feature

The Idea Router runs when an idea enters a funnel. This includes ideas submitted through the [Company IdeaBox](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/company-ideabox/), ideas submitted through a campaign, and ideas moved from one funnel to another.

For each incoming idea, the router compares the idea content with the funnels that are included in the routing scope. It then calculates a confidence score per funnel. If the highest score is above the threshold, the idea is moved automatically. If not, the fallback action is applied.

## Step by step instructions

1. Open the relevant idea funnel in Innovation Studio.
2. Go to the **Idea Router** tab in the funnel settings.
3. Enable **Idea Router** for this funnel.
4. Choose the **Routing scope**.
   - Select **All funnels** to compare ideas against every funnel in the workspace.
   - Select **Selected funnels** to limit routing to a defined group of funnels.
5. Set the **Priority basis**.
   - You can use mixed mode or prioritize department, category, funnel, tag, or topics.
   - The selected priority receives extra weight during the matching process.
6. Set the **Auto move threshold**.
   - This is the minimum confidence score required for automatic routing.
   - The default is 70 percent.
7. Choose the **Fallback action**.
   - Keep the idea in the current funnel.
   - Or send it to a specific fallback funnel.
8. Save the funnel settings.
9. Submit a test idea or move an idea into the funnel to verify the routing behavior.
10. Review the **Recent routing decisions** panel to see the result, confidence score, key signals, and timestamp.

## Configuration and adjustments

The Idea Router is configured per funnel. This means each funnel can have its own routing behavior, threshold, fallback setup, and routing scope.

### Routing scope

Use a broad scope when ideas can reasonably belong to many funnels. Use a selected scope when only a limited set of funnels should be considered.

### Priority basis

Use mixed mode when multiple funnel attributes should contribute evenly to routing. Choose a specific priority when one element, such as department or category, should influence routing more strongly.

### Threshold

A higher threshold reduces the chance of incorrect routing but may result in more ideas staying in the current funnel or moving to the fallback funnel. A lower threshold increases automation but can reduce accuracy. The default threshold of 70 percent is generally recommended.

### Fallback action

Use the current funnel as fallback when you want uncertain ideas to be reviewed manually. Use a dedicated fallback funnel when your process includes centralized triage before ideas are assigned to specialist funnels.

### Routing quality

Routing accuracy depends on the quality of your funnel setup. For better results, make sure each funnel has a clear title, a meaningful description, accurate department and category information, relevant tags and topics, and complete context fields.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands receives all new ideas in a general intake funnel. The innovation team enables the Idea Router on that funnel so incoming ideas can be distributed automatically to specialist funnels.

They include funnels such as **Team Attractions**, **New Technologies**, **Future of Innovationlands**, and **Team Marketing** in the routing scope. Each funnel has a clear description, assigned department, relevant categories, and context fields that describe its purpose.

A visitor submits an idea for an interactive ride concept through the [Company IdeaBox](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/company-ideabox/). The router compares the idea with all eligible funnels and gives the highest confidence score to **Team Attractions**. Because the score is above the threshold, the idea is moved automatically. The receiving Power Users then get the normal funnel notifications and can start evaluation.

Later, an employee submits a drone technology concept. This idea matches best with **New Technologies** and is routed there automatically. Another idea arrives with only a short and unclear description. Its confidence score stays below the threshold, so the fallback action applies and the idea remains in the general intake funnel for manual review.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the router run more than once?

No. The router runs when the idea enters the funnel.

### Can I move an idea manually after routing?

Yes. Power Users can still move ideas manually to another funnel.

### Who can view routing decisions?

Power Users with access to the funnel can review routing activity and open the detailed view.

### What happens when confidence is too low?

The fallback action is used. The idea either stays in the current funnel or is placed in the selected fallback funnel.

### Can the Idea Router send ideas to project funnels?

No. The Idea Router supports idea funnels only.
