# What is a company in Accept Mission?

## Why this feature is needed

A company is the foundation of an [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) environment. It creates the organizational boundary in which users, missions, and data belong. Without a company, there is no dedicated space to manage access, structure participation, or create missions.

This is important when an organization wants to keep its innovation activities, users, and [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/mission/) data separated from other organizations in the platform.

## What this feature is

A company in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) represents an organization or group within the platform. It connects users and missions inside one controlled environment so that only authorized people can access the data and activities that belong to that company.

Creating a company is the first step in setting up a working [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) environment. To create missions, a company is required. The person who creates the company is automatically assigned the role of Company Captain.

## How to use this feature

The company is used as the top-level structure for your [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) environment. After a company is created, users can be connected to it and missions can be created within that company context.

The company also helps define who can access [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/mission/) information and user data. This keeps governance clear and prevents users from seeing data outside their own company environment.

## Step by step instructions

1. Open the company setup area in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/).
2. Create a new company for your organization.
3. Enter the required company information.
4. Save the company setup.
5. Confirm that the company is now available as the environment for your users and missions.
6. Add or invite users to the company so they can work inside the correct organizational context.
7. Create missions within that company environment.

## Configuration and adjustments

Company settings determine the organizational context for [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/mission/) and user access. Changes to company configuration can affect who can work in the environment and how data is separated from other environments.

Review company settings before inviting users or launching missions. This helps ensure the correct organizational structure is in place from the start.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands creates a company in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) to manage innovation across its theme park organization. This company becomes the secure environment where park teams, innovation leads, and [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/decision/)-makers work together.

After the company is created, Innovationlands can invite the right users, set up [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/mission/) participation, and keep all idea and [Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/mission/) data inside the same organizational boundary. The employee who created the company becomes the Company Captain and can help manage the initial setup.

This gives Innovationlands a clear starting point for structured innovation before missions, idea collection, and [Decision](https://www.acceptmission.com/encyclopedia/decision/)-making workflows are introduced.
