# Innovation tasks

## Why this feature is needed

Innovation work often involves multiple people, dependencies, deadlines, and activities spread over time. Without structured task management, it becomes harder to keep ideas and projects moving and to make sure important work is not forgotten.

Innovation tasks help teams stay aligned by keeping activities connected to the innovation itself. This is especially useful when teams are working together on the same innovation, running innovation sprints, or managing longer innovation projects.

## What this feature is

Innovation tasks in [Accept Mission](https://www.acceptmission.com/pt/encyclopedia/accept-mission/) are the built-in task management feature used to organize and execute work across the innovation process. Tasks can be managed at three levels: in the main task management area in the Innovation Studio, inside an idea, and inside a project.

This makes it possible to manage work in the right context while still keeping a broader overview of tasks across innovations. Tasks created on idea level are automatically connected to that idea. Tasks created on project level are automatically connected to that project.

The task system also includes status tracking, notifications, and a Gantt chart view to help teams understand planning and progress over time.

## Access level

[Power User](https://www.acceptmission.com/pt/encyclopedia/power-user/)

You need access to the Innovation Studio and the relevant idea or project to manage innovation tasks in context.

## Navigation path

## How to use this feature

Innovation tasks can be used from the main task area in the Innovation Studio or from within a specific idea or project. This makes it possible to work either from a broad task overview or directly from the innovation where the work belongs.

Tasks can be managed in a simple way directly in the grid or in a more detailed way through the full task view. This gives teams flexibility depending on how much detail they need.

### Step by step instructions

1. Open **Innovation Studio**.
2. Choose where you want to manage the task: the main task area, an idea, or a project.
3. Create a new task.
4. Enter the task title.
5. Add the phase if needed.
6. Add a description.
7. Select the owner of the task.
8. Set the deadline.
9. Optionally enter the estimated time needed for the task.
10. Save the task.
11. Update the task status as the work progresses.
12. Use the grid view or Gantt chart to monitor progress over time.

## What you can manage in a task

Each task can include the following fields:

- **Title**
- **Phase** - A free field that can be filled in as needed
- **Description**
- **Owner** - The person responsible for the task
- **Deadline**
- **Estimated time needed** - Useful if you want to track how much time a task may take
- **Status**

This structure makes it easier to organize work consistently across ideas and projects.

## Where to find innovation tasks

### In the main Innovation Studio

The Innovation Studio includes a central task management area where users can manage their own tasks and see tasks connected to ideas and projects. This gives a cross-innovation overview of the work that still needs attention.

### In ideas

To manage tasks inside an idea, follow this path:

**Navigation path: Innovation Studio → Ideas → Open funnel → Open idea → Work → Tasks**

When you create a task on idea level, it is automatically connected to that idea. These tasks are also visible in the main task section in the Innovation Studio.

### In projects

To manage tasks inside a project, follow this path:

Tasks created here are directly linked to the project.

## Gantt chart

The task system also includes a Gantt chart.

The Gantt chart gives a visual overview of tasks linked to an idea or project and shows activities over time. It automatically groups tasks by phase and applies smart optimization so activities are displayed in a logical timeline.

This helps teams understand planning, dependencies, and progress at a glance.

## Task statuses

You can also manage the status of tasks, making it easier to track what is planned, in progress, or completed. This helps teams monitor execution and identify where work may be blocked or delayed.

## Notifications

The task system automatically supports notifications.

- Users receive a notification when a task is assigned to them.
- Users receive a notification when a deadline is reached.

This ensures task owners stay informed without needing to manually check every task update.

## Innovation intelligence feature page

Innovation tasks are one of the tools within the broader [Innovation Intelligence](http://www.acceptmission.com/support/innovation-intelligence/) feature. This broader feature helps teams capture structure, insights, decisions, and learning directly inside ideas and projects.

## Configuration and adjustments

Innovation tasks can be used at multiple object levels, which means the same task system supports ideas, projects, and the central task overview in the Innovation Studio.

When tasks are created inside an idea or project, they remain connected to that object while also contributing to the broader innovation task overview. This is useful when teams need both context-specific execution and a higher-level overview of work across innovations.

To keep the task system effective, use clear task titles, consistent phase naming, assigned owners, realistic deadlines, and regular status updates. This improves both the grid view and the Gantt chart overview.

## Practical example – Innovationlands

Innovationlands is running a sprint to improve queue experiences and also managing a longer project for a new interactive guest attraction. The innovation team needs a practical way to manage work across both short and long innovation efforts.

Inside an idea about mobile queue communication, the team creates tasks for user research, concept refinement, and stakeholder feedback. These tasks are linked directly to the idea and also appear in the central task overview in the Innovation Studio.

At the same time, inside a larger attraction project, the team creates project tasks for prototype design, budget alignment, safety review, and launch planning. These tasks are linked to the project and shown in the project Gantt chart grouped by phase.

This allows Innovationlands to manage all innovation work in the right context while also keeping one central overview of task ownership, deadlines, and progress across the broader innovation process.
